Change the main number for a location

The primary phone number that is associated with a location is referred to as the main number. Administrators can change the main number for a location in Control Hub. This guide reviews the steps to find and modify a location’s main number.

The main number is typically a phone number that has, or is in the process of, being ported from your previous carrier and is associated, in most cases, with your directory listing.

If you choose a toll-free number as the main number for a location, we recommend updating the emergency callback number for the location because a toll-free number does not have an emergency service address associated with it.
  1. From Control Hub, go to Management and select Locations.
  2. Find and select the location you’d like to modify.
  3. Select Calling.
  4. Next to Main number, choose the phone number from the drop-down menu.
For extension-only users, this is the caller ID number. For external calls, this number can be assigned to users or features.
