What you need to know:
This feature is now configurable within Control Hub.
Introduction
Routing prefixes (also known as location codes) are the set of numbers dialed prior to calling another user in the organization. Using Control Hub, administrators can create a unique, two-to-seven digit code for a single location. This allows users from one site to call another using the location code plus the extension instead of a full telephone number.
This feature is helpful if your organization has multiple locations with users that have the same extensions. For example, if a user at Location A is currently at extension 1234 and another user at Location B is also at extension 1234, without the use of routing prefixes, the system would not know which user you are trying to dial. With the location routing prefix feature, you can simply dial the routing prefix followed by the extension.
Assign Location Routing Prefix Length
Before assigning a routing prefix, you can determine the routing prefix length by following these steps:
- From Control Hub, go to Services on the left navigation panel.
- Select Calling, then Service Settings from the top menu.
- Here you can modify the internal dialing settings, including the Location Routing Prefix Length. Select Edit.
- Choose the number of digits to be used to connect users at other locations from the drop-down menu.
- Select Save to save your changes.
