What you need to know:
Locations make it easier to group your workforce logically, like organizing users and workspaces based on physical location. With locations in Control Hub, you can configure calling and workspace management functions in the same location.
This guide provides an overview of locations in Control Hub and covers adding locations, adding users to locations, workspaces, and location management.
Overview
A physical address can be used to identify a location, which can be assigned to users and workspaces. Consider establishing a headquarters location that can be identified by an address in a particular city. It is possible to designate that location as the home office of employees in your company. Workspaces can be actual rooms in that location, like the workspace in the main conference room at the headquarters.
You can use a single location for both workspaces and calling, in addition to the advantages that locations provide in terms of organization. You can apply settings templates and other administrative features to groups and locations.
Add a Location
To create a block list with numbers that can’t make incoming calls to your organization:
-
- From Control Hub, go to Locations.
- Click Manage location > Create manually.
- Enter the following information about the location:
- Location Name (Required)—Enter a unique name to identify the location.
- Country/Region (Required)—Select a country for this location. For example, you can create a Headquarters location in the United States and a Branch location in the United Kingdom. The country you select determines the address fields that follow.
- Street Address (Required)—Enter the location's street address.
If the system recognizes the street address you've entered, a list of suggested addresses is shown. Select one of the addresses from the list to display a map.
You can then move the pin to select a spot on the map. When you move the pin, it updates the location information. Please Note: The map only displays if you select an address from the list; if the system does not recognize the address you entered, you can save this location, but the map won't display it.
- City/Town—Enter a city for this location.
- State/Province/Region—Select a state, province, or region from the drop-down list.
- ZIP/Postal Code—Enter the ZIP or postal code.
- Announcement Language—Select the language for audio announcements and prompts for new users and features.
- Email Language—Select the language for email communication with new users.
- Time zone—Select the time zone for the location.
-
- Add floors to the location you just created.
- Click Create to finish creating the location. Webex generates a unique Location ID.

Please Note: Once you remove users' Webex Calling licenses, it can take up to 24 hours to reflect in the application.
Known Issues
Licenses being Added or Removed
When adding users to or removing users from a location in Control Hub, the organization-license template (if one is defined) is applied to the user. This may result in additional licenses being added to the user or licenses being removed from the user if Preserve License is turned off. This impacts users who have a different set of licenses from the organization template. This does not affect users who are using the group license template or who are managing users with a CSV or the API. A fix for this issue will be rolled out by Cisco shortly.
Workspace Locations and Calling Locations
Some organizations have workspaces that were previously assigned to both the calling and workspace locations. As a workspace can now only be assigned to one location, we are proactively migrating these workspaces to the new experience and associating them with the calling location only. Customers with many workspaces are being handled with an exemption process. Contact your Verizon account representative if you have questions.
Please Note: Workspaces that are assigned to a single location will be fully migrated to that location.
Duplicate Workspace and Calling Location Names
Existing workspace locations and calling locations have been migrated to a single location for both workspaces and calling. Duplicate names encountered in the migration process were renamed, as duplicate names are not allowed.
In cases where the migration of a calling location encountered a name conflict, the calling location was migrated with a -CALL suffix after its name.
There is no functional impact on this issue. For example, the administrator might just see Location1 and Location1-CALL in the list of locations.
If desired, the administrator can consolidate the two locations by completing these steps:
-
- Copy any relevant information from Location1 to Location1-CALL.
- Delete Location1.
- Rename Location1-CALL to Location1.
