Introduction to Sharing

The sharing feature, also known as Shared Line Appearance, is used to configure sharing on your physical phone. This will enable users to receive calls placed to another user’s extension (from their own phone), to place calls from another user’s extension (from their own phone), and to see the status of that extension from the line key on their own phone. An example of this is an executive assistant who wants to be able to make and receive calls from the boss’s line.

Note: User stations can be shared with up to five endpoints.

Configuring Sharing On Your Physical Phone (VoIP Desk Phone)

To configure Shared Line Appearance, follow these steps:

  1. From Control Hub, go to the Users tab, if you would like to add a shared line to a user's device. Or, select the Workspaces tab to add a shared line to a workspace device. Note: Additional lines can be added to a workspace device, but a workspace phone cannot be added as a shared line.
  2. Select the user (or workspace) you would like to modify.
  3. Select Devices.
  4. Select the device you would like to add shared lines to.
  5. Click image for large view
  6. Under Device Users and Settings, select Configure Lines.
  7. Click image for large view
  8. To add a shared line appearance, click the Plus icon. We recommend adding the lines in the order in which you want them to appear. To reorder the line appearance, delete and add to the list in the order you want them to appear.
  9. Enter the name or phone number from the search field.
  10. Click image for large view
  11. When finished, click Save to save your changes.
